Schools
Typically we work with local schools to offer a range of vocational training alongside the core curriculum. This is for Engineering and Business & Administration and involves young people having the opportunity to gain practical skills and experience in specific vocational areas as well as working towards an NVQ qualification.
The Association takes great pride in the time committed to schools programmes, having its own dedicated Schools Development Team and Liaison Officer.
Other activities include Manufacturing Compact which is designed to allow young people to find out more about local industry and vocations they are able to offer such as Engineering, Business & Administration, Accountancy and Customer Service. This is a collaborative programme with schools, the Association and local businesses and allows young people the opportunity to go out into employers’ premises.
As well as on-going programmes, the Association is able to offer tailor-made programmes and training to suit the requirements of local schools, for example anything from 1 hour to full-day sessions in communication skills, interview skills, industry taster days and customer service plus much more.
For the future, the Association remains a part of the development in vocational training in the curriculum, taking part in Diploma development and working in partnership with other local providers to provide the practical skills alongside academic learning and developing to meet the future needs of education and training.
