Engineering Programme
Apprenticeship format
- Apprenticeship lasts approximately 4 years
- 1st year is spent at HGTA in a purpose built training centre with 1 day a week at college. NVQ level 2 will be completed during this time as well as other relevant qualifications
- The next 3 years are spent in company with day release to college working towards NVQ levels 3 with the possibility to progress to Level 4 and Higher Education qualifications.

- Fabrication and Welding Engineer
- Toolmaker and CNC Machinist
- Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Entry Requirements: 4 GCSE grade C or below
Technician
- Draughtsman and CAD Engineer
- Quality Control and Inspection Engineer
- Production, Planning and Project Engineer
Entry Requirements 4 GCSE grade C and above
Recruitment and Wages:
- Apply to HGTA directly (application forms accepted from January of the recruitment year)
- All applicants undergo assessment and interviews
- Approximately 120 applicants for 40 positions
- Companies made final recruitment decision
- Wages range from £80 - £150 per week in the first year.
